Hello from the team at Point Wilson Lighthouse! As many of you know, our lighthouse holds a special place in the heart of Port Townsend, nestled at the edge of Fort Worden State Park. While we share a close physical connection with the park, we want to assure everyone that our operations here at Point Wilson are entirely separate.
Like so many of you, we're concerned about the changes and challenges at Fort Worden, particularly with the recent news about Fort Worden Hospitality (FWH) ceasing operations. Like you, we hope the park’s situation gets resolved soon and returns to its full vibrancy. However, we want to emphasize that what happens at the park doesn’t directly affect the work we’re doing here at the lighthouse.
Here at Point Wilson, it’s very much business as usual! Our friends at the U.S. Lighthouse Society (USLHS) continue their dedicated efforts to preserve and restore this historic site. Visitors are still staying in our beautifully restored vacation rentals year-round, and we’re looking forward to resuming weekend tours in the spring. Restoration projects are moving ahead as planned, and we’re as excited as ever to welcome visitors and share the rich history of this iconic beacon.
To clarify a common question: Point Wilson Lighthouse is not part of Fort Worden State Park. It’s a Coast Guard station that has been leased to the USLHS, which operates it independently. We work closely with the park staff and have always enjoyed a great relationship with them, but our day-to-day operations remain distinct.
We’re grateful for your support and encourage you to come visit us! Whether it’s to book a stay in one of our vacation rentals, learn about the lighthouse’s fascinating history, or simply enjoy the stunning views, we’re here to welcome you.
Thank you for being a part of the Point Wilson Lighthouse community. Together, we’re ensuring that this treasure remains a shining light for generations to come.
Warm regards,
The Point Wilson Lighthouse Team
